History of the John Brown House
The John Brown House was built in the 1970s in the path of what would later become the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad (or so local tradition tells it). Too beautiful to knock down during the construction of the railroad, legend has it that the home was relocated in the 1800s. In the 1870s, John N. Brown and H.J. Carraway purchased the home, as well as lot 97, and moved the gorgeous Federal and Italianate style home to the location on which it stands today.
The John Brown House today
In more recent history, Jenn, Brandon, and Brax became the proud owners of the John Brown House and made the commitment to restore the dilapidated, historic farmhouse to its former glory. As the renovations neared completion, the family knew they didn’t want to keep the home’s beauty to themselves. By making the John Brown House into an B&B and events venue, the stunning history of this home can be shared with many for years to come!
