Check for Local Accomodations + Vacation Rentals in Halifax

When planning your visit to Halifax, North Carolina, be sure to check out local accomodations and vacation rentals in the area. Choose to stay in a historic house that offers an intimate, home-like atmosphere and warmer experience overall.

The John Brown House in the heart of historic Halifax is a boutique bed & breakfast full of history, adventure, and Southern charm. Guests can experience local culture and interact with their hosts (should they wish). You have the option of booking the entire house, or you can book one-bedroom in the home.

If you are staying in Enfield, North Carolina, we highly recommed the Bellamy Manor & Gardens. This property is a private country house on four-acres. We've had the pleasure of staying here for one night, and it was beyond spectacular. The breakfast was scrumcious and something you'd expect at a 5-star restaurant.

Eat With The Locals

Eat where the locals eat and experience the local culture of Halifax County. There are so many localy owned restaurants where there's no need to stop at a fast-food chain. Support Local Small Businesses + book experiences

Keep your weekend jam-packed with things to do in Halifax and beyond. Follow local small businesses in the area to see what is happening locally and during your stay. There are a few experiences in Halifax that we recommend adding to your to-do list:

The Roanoke Canal Trail & Museum: If you like the outdoors, this will be right up your alley. Download the trail map here - https://www.roanokecanal.com.

Roanoke Rapids Day Use Area: Roanoke Rapids Lake Day Use Area is a great day-trip for the entire family. The 4,600-acre lake is perfect for all sorts of activities - walking trails, a beautiful playground, sand volleyball, a nine-hole disc golf course, horseshoe pits, a handicapped accessible fishing pier, picnic shelters, grills, restrooms, and concession facilities. Pack a picnic and plan on spending the entire day at this public park in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The park is FREE too! Faintin Acre Farm in Garysburg, NC: We had the pleasure of visiting Faintin Acre Farm in Garysburg, North Carolina, owned and operated by Wendy Bryum. They raise and sell myotonic fainting goats; and they also milk their goats to make milk soap and lotion. If you are looking for a great place to take your kids for a few hours, make sure you reach out to Wendy. She also hosts summer programs for kids (make sure you check out her Facebook page for more details)!

Sylvan Heights Bird Park:

We ventured out to Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, to visit the rare waterfowl and exotic birds. Surprisingly, they are open on Sunday (which is when we went). Tickets were relatively inexpensive at $12/per adult, and Brax was free! We are constantly looking at new things to do as a family, and this was top on our list for the area.

This is a great park for visitors of all ages, as there is something for everyone. Our son's favorite was the playground and dig area! You can pack a pic-nic or order lunch from their cafe. We will visit again!
